e-procurement being the most advanced element of this revolution by far. Total B2B revenues are expected to reach $4 trillion by 2003 - General Electric,
British Airways,
Avon and IBM all claimed to have saved over $250 million each from their e-procurement initiatives. However, total procurement spent going through
e-channels is still only averaging 2%-3%. So, where is the revolution in that?
In this joint study with the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply, we ask the following questions to firms that are focusing on
leveraging the e-procurement Opportunity. Is this truly a strategic shift, or simply another tactical tool?
Most importantly, what is the new role of the
procurement function in this electronic age?
